Well, Christmas is coming so it is high time to think of where I will spend my winter vacation this year and what to do at Christmas. As always, I am planning to have a ski vacation together with a friend of mine. And now after having read some information on the internet, we are considering Lithuania as our holiday destination. I have been tired from aggressive skiing that the Alps offer and now I want something just for pleasure. I do not dream of competitive vacation at all. I dream of a kind of a vacation when I can ski just for pleasure. Besides, I am not going to spend the whole vacation on a piste and I want to do the sights of the country I am going to visit. And Lithuania is just the right place I would like to visit. As I got to know it from the internet, Lithuania offers excellent spa service in its ski resorts. So, in addition to pleasure from skiing and I am also going to have a relaxing vacation. Besides, it is possible to take a tour round the Lithuanian cities during the winter vacation. I like various excursions and I think I will take some while I am on Christmas holidays in Lithuania. 

I prefer to have an active vacation so I have been thought a lot before I'd like to spend my vacation in Czech Republic. I have been surfing over internet pages for a very long time before I found information that interested me a lot. It appeared that Krkonoše National Park located in Czech republic has excellent hiking and biking trails. The only thing the tourist strictly should follow there is a biker should have a special helmet over the head and properly equipped bike. Of course, I can take my own bike with me but I think this will have little sense, so I am going to rent all the equipment as soon as I reach the destination. The only problem I have to solve is where to stay as soon as I come to Czechia. I was told that accommodation in Czech Republic is not expensive at all and it is possible to rent a nice summer house or cottage in a nice surrounding through the internet. So I am going to start search for right accommodation as soon as possible. 

I like to travel and I do it every time I have opportunity for this. Not so long ago I went on holidays in Liguria, Italy. There I went to the province of Genoa because I was told it is not a problem to find accommodation over there. When I came to Ligurian Genoa, I rented a nice cottage on the Mediterranean coast. To be exact, I stayed in Genoa – the capital of the Genoa Province. I was struck with the city and its people. The first three days I spent examining the capital itself. First of all I headed for the city centre when I saw the Palazzo Ducale. In the past it was the place where the senators and doges worked. So, can you imagine how many laws were passed there?! I also visited the grave of Oscar Wild. I don't know why but he preferred to be buried in Genoa. When in Genoa, I wanted to visit the annual International Festival of Poetry. But I failed as it is usually held in the end of February, and I went to Liguria in April. So, I failed to fulfill my this dream. The other 4 days I spent traveling round the province of Genoa. I visited the 117-meter high lighthouse which is considered to be the landmark of Genoa. I also saw such places, like old forts of "Torre del Castelletto" and "Torre Quezzi", Palazzo Durazzo and museum of Antarctica. And I liked there a lot. I believe my vacation in Liguria wasn't spent in vain because I got to know many interesting things about Italy and its people.

I adore skiing and I can say that I can boast of having skied at many resorts of Europe. I visited France, Switzerland and Germany. I even was in Bulgaria and Norway but this year I went to Italy, to be exact to Venice. I heard many good opinions about its ski resorts, so I decided it was the right time to check it myself. So this winter I went to Civetta ski area, and I really liked it there. There are very long ski runs for all the skiers of all levels. I also liked that there were about 25 ski lifts there. There were no queues at all so it was a real pleasure to ski there. I went there with a friend of mine who were really bad at skiing, so the first two days she skied with a ski instructor. I should admit that there is an excellent ski school in Civetta where can study both the children and adults. If you have children, then there is a good child-care in Civetta. While you ski, your children will be looked for. So, there are always families with children there. When I was in Civetta, I stayed at a cottage there. I should admit that it was not easy for me to choose the right cottage as there is always a wide choice of vacation rentals in Venice.

During the summer many people try to go to the South in order to get suntanned and swim in the sea. I also did the same every year but the last year I decided to make a trip to the North. So I went to Norway. There were several reasons for my trip there. First of all, it is the Norwegian nature. It is really beautiful. You will never find something similar in any other country. The country is rich in fjords where you surely can find a secluded corner if you are tired of constant attention. The second reason was the Vikings’ culture. The Vikings were very brave people and they left a very great heritage to the people of Norway. Besides, being a sea-state, there are many delicious fish dishes in this country. I have never tasted such a delicious bloater that was prepared in accordance with the old traditions. The only problem I faced when I planned my trip to Norway was accommodation. The trouble was there were no tour operators in my country who offered their service in Norway. So I applied to the internet where I found a nice apartment in the city of Oslo. I didn’t stay in Norway for a long time, so I my trip to Norway was not tiring and expensive for me.

A ski holiday in Europe is always a good choice. If you are a beginner skier, the beauty of the Alpine Mountains will overwhelm you and if you are an advanced skier the trails will go beyond your wildest dreams. And that's just during the day! The nightlife is never-ending with great beer, wine and dancing. The standard of accommodation in European resorts is usually high, with the most popular accommodation type being ski chalets.
